Nice to see this diet working
Question:

Nice to see this diet working
I started on 7/14/07 at 220....maybe a bit more
I read on here about losing correctly so I figured my calories per day to lose was about 2,400......
I have been eating clean and haven't cheated.....the only deviation is that my calories per day are usually 1,450-1,550.
Weighed myself this morning and was 212.5
My plan is to up the calories....probably when I hit 205....to the !,800 area and gradually get it up to 2,000-2,200....I don't think I need more than that and my energy is good for the workouts....
The goal is 195....I haven't been under 202 pounds in over 5 years....eating this way I feel very confident it'll work....I may even re-introduce myself to my abs at 195 lol

Answer:

Great progress you are doing very well. Only thing I might add is that when i was dieting down I got my best losses a couple of days after i had a cheat type meals, not pizza but something that was not on my diet. I would also go to your target weight of 195 if you are losing steadily as once you change your diet it's very hard to get dialed in again.
You can do it and it actually gets easier.

Answer:

Thanks lukamar
At 211.75 this morning....another good day of eating in the books today
I promised myself when I get under 210 I'll enjoy a cheat meal.......I'm hoping it's this coming Friday night....I'm also going to have a hot fudge sunday for dessert.......probably be back up to 220 saturday morning. lol
Every 5 pounds I'm going to give myself a little treat

Answer:

I started out in the spring of 06 at 245 and am now down to 199-200 lbs (depends on the scale), with a goal of 190 lbs.
Using Fitday.com, I've kept my calories predominantly between 2000 and 2400. I think to lose that last 10 lbs I need to be closer to the 2000 cal point.
Plus, I've been upping the cardio and running in general, too. All the while trying to maintain the lean mass under the cloak of fat!
Good luck! Bob

Answer:

Thanks Bob.
Congrats on your weight loss.
Going out for my cheat meal tomorrow. Hit 209.75 this morning.
I think when I get to under 205 I'm going to bump up the calories. I've been right around 1500 for the first 3 weeks. Probably a bit low....but for now I'll sacrifice any strenght/muscle loss to lose the weight. Strength is staying the same. Actually added to a few exercises....weighted pullups went up (probably due to less weight I have to pull lol)
Still have a long way to go to see my abs...I know they're there....I can feel em. lol

Answer:

I started back to training 6 weeks ago after a 6 month lay off - I am eating clean for the first time in over 20 years - but I'm putting on weight - and alot of it - what gives?

Answer:

Don't get obsessed with scale weight a lot depends on the amount of hydration you have. Look for a trend rather than the actual weight. If things are going good for you, in the weight/fat loss department - don't change anything. When it's working it's like magic and then one day poof the show is over. If you can get down to your target weight do that and then add calories. Once you get it dialed in you don't want to stop, because it's almost impossible to get there again. :D

Answer:

YUMMY dinner Friday night.
12-ounce steak. French Fries. Butternut squash. 2 Beers. AND...............
Mississippi mud-pie.
Now goal is under 205 and I'll go back for seconds.

Answer:

208
Mississippi mud-pie motivation. lol

Answer:

Don't weigh yourself everyday!
Scale weight is very misleading. I used to weigh 225 lbs......lost about 50 lbs....doing cardio and dieting. Packed on lean muscle and now weigh in at around 200 lbs....I never felt better in my life even though I gained back over 20 lbs. Waist size and how your clothes fit is the real measure. Muscle definitely weighs more than fat. Like you....I used to weigh in every day (2-3 times a day sometimes) and it gets really frustrating.
My advice is to ditch the scale....and concentrate on working out....hard and continuously. Like many other people have said here before.....it is more about a lifestyle and attitude change more than anything else.

Answer:

206.5
Finally the gut and ass starting to get smaller :)
Hoping to hit 204.75 by next saturday. Then more mississippi mud-pie. lol
205 is when i usually start packing it back on. Just have to stay disciplined the next 2 weeks and I should be about 202.........then finally under 200 for the first time in years....woooohooooo

Answer:

I havent been worrying about the amount of calories. I focus on expending them through aerobics, circuit training, and swimming. I am reading a book called Ultrametabolism by Mark Hyman. It suggests eating small regular meals and increasing the metabolic rate. In the last year, I lost about 20 pounds.

Eating those cheat meals will bring back old cravings that have your mouth watering and make you feel like there is no way you can leave it on the shelf. As long as you keep control cheat meals are fine. If you lose control let us know.

Good job reflectx.
Sure feels good to not carry the extra weight, eh?
I missed 2 days counting calories....didn't write them in my journal and I'm sure I had "extra" calories throughout the day.(more carbs than usual)..AND of course I stayed the same weight for 3 days before getting back to the discipline of writing things down and watching the macros...increasing the protein...cutting back on the carbs.
As I drop the weight I'm trying like mad to maintain my strength in a few exercises.
Before I started my lifts were like this:
BP - 275x6
Press from top of head - 155x20
Pull up - 40 x 8
DL and Squat off for 2 months after having a procedure
DB Curl 55 x 8
Dip Machine for tri's 340 x 30
Currently (and attempting to maintain these while dropping another 11.5 pounds)
BP 275 x 5
Press from top of head - 175 x 7
Pull up - 40 x 10
DL - 410 x 4
SQ - 230 x 6
DB Curl 55 x 8
Dip Machine for Tri's 340 x 27
I do the DL and Sq at the end of a 2-day cycle. I work out every Tuesday and Wednesday. The squat is ridiculously easy. DL is hard but should be able to get it up to 425 x 4. I know if I did them on separate days it would be my normal DL 450 x 4 and the Squat 335 x 6-8. I'm just not concentrating on these while I drop weight.

Later Thanks Joe. I know what you mean about getting back the cravings. But immediately the next day I was right back to the normal meals. I think next Satrudays will be the tough one to overcome. Under 205 has given me problems in the past. But I really think my mindset is where I want it to be and will go right back to the meal plan that has been working :)

I feel good without the extra weight. I didn't even know what a tape measure was 1 year and a half ago. When I bought one my ab measurement was 38. I am down to 35 now. My lowest so far has been under 34.

Makes you feel good, don't it, keep up the good work!

205.75 yesterday.
206 this morning. Ate a bit more carbs last night to prepare for the workout today. Still maintaining the strength. However, the BP set was much harder than usual.
Shooting for 204.5 Saturday morning.
Anybody have tips for shoulder width? Lateral raises hurt like hell and so do upright rows.

Answer:

Magic number this morning scale read 200.5 with my heavy ass cast on...I'm calling it under 200 and that is a psycological number. I'm sure I'm losing LBM as well but I believe I can gain it back as soon as I can get back in the gym...the sutures come out Friday and then I can safely go back in (I think) Who would have thought that breaking my leg could have such positive effects.

Answer:

When I started lifting a little over a year ago I was 220 and a 36 waist size, Now I'm down to 205 and a 34 waist feel great I'm going back up to 210 over the next few months to compete in 08. I'm going to do it slowly so as not to gain any in the mid section. And maybe to even drop a little more on the waist size.

I'm stuck around 205.25 the past couple days.

That's with absolutely no sucking in. I'm a tad over 205 now. When I started at 220+ I measurred my waist at 40.5. Can't believe how hard it is to come off my waist. Even in college I had the love handles. I think it's genetics since my father has the exact same look no matter how much weight he loses.
It's frustrating as hell but my goal was 195 and 36" waist. I think I'll need 190 to get to the 36" waist area

Answer:

Congrats on the hard work. Keep it up!

Answer:

If your gut feels hard add the exercise bike into your routine. Set the seat at a height where your knees will bump into your stomach. This will help loosen up the hard fat feel. Doctors have to spend hours massaging this hard fat on extremely obese people to help loosen it up. You will be doing the massaging with your knees. The rowing machine will work too.
If your gut feels spongy don't give up. What ever you are doing is working. It's just going to take more time then you would of wished.

Answer:

Hey Bob, there is a third method for loosening up belly fat. You could have your wife rub your belly. Imagine the possiblities........bow, chica, bow, wow! LOL
