What is the poundage for most weight bars?
Question:

What is the poundage for most weight bars?
Someone was kind enough to give me weight bar, but can't remember how much it weighs. It's 72 inches long(used tape measure), and appears to be solid chrome steel. Is there a standard poundage for these bars? If not, I may have to buy a scale to see how much it weighs, so I'll know exactly what I'm lifting after adding plates. Thanks

Answer:

Here are some basic standards that are found in most gyms. I did not include powerlifting bar weights as thsoe are heavier and design to handle very heavy amounts of poundages.
-Bench press bar = 45lbs
-EZ curl (or cambered depending on what you call it) = 15 or 25lbs (Usually the heavier ones are thicker)
-Shorter bar than bench press but loks the same = usually 25 lbs in most cases
Is this what you were asking about? I hope I was able to help.

Answer:

if it's a 'standard' barbell (6 foot long, 1 inch diameter) it should be around 22lbs.

Thanks everyone for the answers. Well, it was awkward, but I was able to curl the bar for 12 straight reps, so it must be in the 20-25 lb range. Either that, or I've gotten stronger. lol

Answer:
