Question:
Need advice from experienced carb cyclers..
I have specific questions, I'm hoping those of you that have done it a few times can help me out..
I'm doing the 3/3 cycle as it is in the book "Sliced".. 3 days low carb @ about 1500-1600 cals, then 3 days high carbs at 3k-3200 cals.
I am in day 3 of the first half of the cycle right now, and boy am I wiped out..
My questions are:
Can chicken be substiuted for beef? I prefer it, and it's way cheaper.
Can the meals be spread out a bit more? It has 5 meals listed, but I'm used to eating 7-ish. The breakfast is HUGE, and I have not been able to eat it all in one sitting. I figure as long as I am keeping the carbs in the same part of the day, it should be OK..
Is 1% bf per week a reasonable goal? it says it is in the book, but that seems like a lot.. (I'm 16% and needing to get to 5% (or less) in 13 weeks.)
Can different fruits be used? It calls for bananas and canteloupe, and while I like both, I would like some variety.
Can green leafy veggies be subbed for broccoli or green beans? I WILL NOT EAT BROCCOLI. I have been eating green beans, which I love, but a salad (or something resembling a salad) would be nice occasionally.
Thanks in advance for your help!
This isn't a keto diet. Ketosis also causes muscle loss. It takes me about 4 days to fully get into ketosis, and that's not my goal anyway.
I know for a fact that several people that post here carb cycle, I'm hoping that they are willing to share their experience..
chicken can be changed for beef imo, but if you're using beef as part of your fat intake you may need to make adjustments.
if you're used to eating 7 meals, i'd also say it's fine to spread out from the 5 as long as you're eating the right components of each meal.....meaning enough protien to carb/fats.....not eating just a bowl of oats or just a salad w/o any protien.
1% bodyfat usually = 3lbs. that's tough to accomplish every week.....not saying it can't be done, but that's the very high end for sure. why do you want to get down so low? are you doing a show?
fruits while cutting.........i don't do it. i need to use my carbs for foods that will sustain me. i know this is a taboo subject, but i get no fruits while cutting.
if you can't stand broccoli try asparagus, zucchini, peppers, spinach, or other leafy greens....green beans aren't your best choice to sub since they are a higher carb veggie.
hope this helps and good luck!
... Ketosis also causes muscle loss. ... Not when it's done right. It's actually muscle sparing because most of the calories come from fat.
That's all... carry on.
